How art and personal development are linked

Become a more interesting and fulfilled person via your art collection? Sounds great right? Let me tell you how you can do this.

It is my somewhat loud opinion that art should be a resource in your life. This is what differentiates being an art collector a meaningful venture, and not a hobby. When you build a relationship with art, and take the time to connect it to aspects of your daily life it will enrich your life and create more opportunity for meaning-making.

When you have taken the time to build a strategic collection, your living space will be filled with pieces that speak to who you are, elevate you to your highest potential, and point you in the direction of your aspirations in life.

Living with art is powerful.

I have pieces in my collection that remind me of who I want to be in the world. I have pieces that serve as a balm for me when I’m low, or filled with doubt and hesitation. I have pieces that energize me and feel purely joyful. And more importantly, I know how to seek the art out when I need it. I know how to assess my state of mind and situate myself (literally) in front of the piece that is going to balance me.

You can do this too. Get intimate with your collection. Know what themes and emotions each piece touches on. Know how you connect that to your personal life. Develop personalized practices around your pieces to let them be effective and influential.

This is the step that so many people miss. It’s one of the biggest things I focus on with my clients, because it’s rarely talked about, but immensely powerful. If you have no idea how to integrate your art into your life in a useful way, consider hiring me as an art consultant at a flat fee to help you develop practices and meaning around your collection.
